A device being prepared for production

TromboCheck is designed as a simple, clear and accessible POCT solution. The 3D prototype already defines its appearance: a large display, physical buttons and a compact housing that sits comfortably in the hand.

Haemostasis

Haemostasis: the balance between thrombosis and bleeding

Haemostasis is the body’s system that helps stop bleeding and prevent unnecessary blood clots. This balance can be disturbed in either direction.

Excessive clotting

Thrombosis

  • AMI
  • Ischaemic stroke
  • VTE / PE

Insufficient clotting

Bleeding

  • Injuries, surgery, clotting disorders

Thrombosis and cardiovascular disease — general statistics

1 in 4

According to World Thrombosis Day, an initiative founded by the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), 1 in 4 people worldwide die from conditions related to thrombosis.

Source: World Thrombosis Day / ISTH — Our story

19.8 million

According to WHO estimates, cardiovascular diseases caused 19.8 million deaths in 2022 — around 32% of all deaths worldwide.

85% of cardiovascular deaths were due to heart attack and stroke.

Source: World Health Organization — Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs)

1 in 4

According to WHO, 1 in 4 adults is predicted to experience a stroke in their lifetime.

Ischaemic stroke is caused by blocked blood flow; haemorrhagic stroke is caused by bleeding.

Venous thromboembolism

≈25%

According to the CDC, sudden death is the first symptom in about a quarter of people with pulmonary embolism.

CDC statistics refer to data from the United States.

> 1/3

More than a third of VTE cases diagnosed each year are related to a recent hospitalisation. The CDC describes VTE as a leading cause of preventable hospital death in the United States.

Bleeding risk

The other side of haemostasis. Clotting disorders can involve not only excessive clot formation but also a reduced ability of the blood to clot, which increases the risk of prolonged or heavy bleeding.

What this means for TromboCheck

These figures describe the scale of the medical problem, not the capabilities of a specific device. TromboCheck’s functions, indications and specifications will be published only after they are confirmed by documentation.

This section explains why the field matters. It is not a claim that TromboCheck can diagnose or prevent the conditions listed.

The scale of haemostasis disorders highlights the importance of accessible, clear tools that can be used closer to the patient. This is the field in which IMMG is creating TromboCheck — the first solution in the HomeLab series.

Abbreviations
AMI
acute myocardial infarction
Stroke
an acute disturbance of blood supply to the brain. A stroke can be ischaemic — caused by blocked blood flow — or haemorrhagic — caused by bleeding
VTE
venous thromboembolism — the umbrella term for DVT and PE
DVT
deep vein thrombosis
PE
pulmonary embolism
POCT
point-of-care testing — testing near the patient or where care is provided

The role of a POCT solution

Closer to the patient and the point of care

Many tests still depend on laboratory infrastructure. An accessible POCT solution could bring some of them closer — to the patient and to the place where medical decisions are made. This is the format in which TromboCheck is being created.

  1. Patients

A clear solution — without medical jargon or unnecessary complexity.

  2. Healthcare organisations

A practical tool designed for use at the point of care.

  3. Specific indications for use, the list of tests and specifications will be published only after they are confirmed by documentation.

TromboCheck roadmap

From development to manufacturing in Kazakhstan

TromboCheck is following a step-by-step path from a technology prototype to a finished medical device. The project is currently at the production preparation stage.

HomeLab by IMMG

A series of solutions, not a single device

HomeLab is IMMG’s lead long-term product series. Its aim is to develop clear and accessible medical solutions that can be used closer to the patient. TromboCheck opens the series; further solutions will be introduced within it.

  • A long-term product series by IMMG
  • Clarity and accessibility over showy technology
  • For patients and healthcare organisations

IMMG — the developer

A company that creates its own medical solutions

IMMG — International Medical Management Group — is a medical company based in Kazakhstan. We are developing the HomeLab product series and preparing production of its first solution, TromboCheck. Our experience with laboratories helps us understand the real needs of healthcare infrastructure.
